Freelance journalist – at what cost?
As an independent TV-freelance journalist Larysa Shchyrakova became one of the most harassed freelance journalists in Belarus during 2017. The threats come from the regime. She will share her experience from handling the harassment and threats, to be able to continue her work, but also tell us what made her quit her job as a freelance. What price are we willing to pay in order to keep working as freelance journalists? That is one of the question she asks herself and us.
How can a freelance organization support their members?
Volha Siakhovich, lawyer at Belarusian Association of Journalists, will explain the legal problems for freelancers in Belarus and how BAJ supports their members. Can international solidarity diminish the threats against freelancers in Belarus?
